I am from chow mein,
from ha gou and ha churng fan.
I am from the rain forest in the Big Island
(Pretty, colorful, it smelled so fresh)
I am from the lemon tree,
the plumeria tree
whose fresh flowers bloomed
with the scent of Hawaii in my hair.
I am from chicken tenders and yummy peilof
from the wheelchair my Po Po sits on
the bad eyesight my parents had
I am from those moments
that I will always remember.
The happiness swirled around the family tree.
